TL;DR
- - Liberty Mutual initially offered $11,041 for a pristine 2013 BMW 328i and only proposed an extra $1,000 for a paid Better Car Replacement endorsement that cost $333 per year.
- - Negotiations with a skilled third-party appraiser and further talks with the adjuster raised the settlement to $19,018, a 42% increase over the insurer's first offer.
- - Don’t accept low total-loss offers—hire an independent appraiser and negotiate to enforce paid endorsements and maximize your payout.
Liberty Mutual deemed our clients vehicle a total loss. They originally offered him $11,041 for his pristine 2013 BMW 328i. The issue was that he had the “Better Car Replacement” endorsement on his policy that he paid $333 a year for. The adjuster offered another $1k for this which was laughable. After negotiations with a very skilled 3rd party appraiser and further negotiations with the adjuster to compensate our client properly we were able to settle at $19,018! A 42% increase in value! Never ever trust an insurance adjuster.
